The women of Alpha Xi Delta sorority will staff the Central Valley Walk Now for Autism Speaks on Saturday at the Modesto Junior College West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave.
Registration will start at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 10:30. The annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks is created for families and friends closely affected by autism. The free event aims to raise money and awareness about the condition.
Along with the walk, there will be activities, games and food at the MJC field.
As of Monday, more than $38,000 had been raised for this year’s Central Valley walk. The sorority’s Iota Beta chapter at California State University, Stanislaus, stands as the top team fundraiser, with more than $9,800 raised.
Never miss a local story.
The chapter raises money throughout the year for Autism Speaks with fundraising events for families and classmates.
