The Beaver Builders – students at Patricia Kay Beaver Elementary in the Ceres Unified School District – showed visitors Thursday night just how industrious they are.
The school held its Leadership Open House to demonstrate how the school is building leaders through rigorous academics, classroom and schoolwide leadership experiences, technology and participation in community service projects. About 300 people attended.
“The purpose of our event was to allow our students to showcase their leadership skills,” Principal Libby Holmes said in an email. “We are currently using Stephen Covey’s ‘The Leader in Me,’ which is a student version of the ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People.’
“We had many projects on display, such as our community services project from this year, our Beaver Broadcast (weekly newscast), students talking about why they like our school, and a student-organized canned food drive to provide food to the less fortunate.”
