A Modesto police spokesman said Wednesday night that he knew of no "imminent" arrest or other break in the Laci Peterson case. Detective Doug Ridenour's comment came in response to a television report that an arrest "could come in a matter of weeks." In fact, Ridenour said, there were no new developments to report in the missing person case that began Christmas Eve.
Earlier Wednesday, Peterson's family announced that they will proceed with a search this weekend at Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County. Peterson's brother, Brent Rocha, started a press conference by saying its purpose was to "keep the focus on finding Laci." The Don Pedro effort is set to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday. A gathering place had not yet been picked; Rocha said volunteers should check www.lacipeterson.com for information. "We would really love boaters in the search," he said. "Because of the nature of Don Pedro, it may be difficult to walk some areas."
