A Sonora resident was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly shooting a man during an altercation, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday.
Emanuel Rupe, 60, was booked at the Tuolumne County jail and remained in custody Thursday afternoon, with bail set at $500,000.
About 8:26 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a report of multiple shots fired at a residence on Valley Oak Drive in Sonora. The victim was outside the home, suffering a wound that was not life-threatening.
He reported he had been in a physical altercation with Rupe, during which Rupe fired multiple rounds at him while threatening to kill him. Rupe also threatened to kill the victim’s family inside the residence, the man said.
The victim was transported to Sonora Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries.
