Authorities are investigating a homicide after a man’s body was found along a road in eastern Stanislaus County.
A passerby reported finding the body of a man on La Grange Road north of Cooperstown Road, authorities said. Firefighters arrived at the scene and declared the man dead. They called the California Highway Patrol, which in turn alerted the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies were called at 10:53 a.m.
About a quarter-mile south of the man’s body, a motorcycle lay on the shoulder in tall dry weeds. Detectives cordoned off both scenes with crime-scene tape and are trying to determine if there is a connection between the man and the motorcycle. The man appeared to be dressed for motorcycle riding, in leather pants, a jacket and boots.
A bag was near his body with several items strewn around it, including clothes, a glove, shoes, a packet of tissues and a charger of some type.

Authorities are working to identify the man and notify his family. The registered owner of the motorcycle is a 53-year-old Bay Area man.
