A suspicious object found in a Ripon park turned out to be a homemade firework, police said.
According to authorities, officers received a report of a suspicious object on a bench at Boesch Kingery Park on Boesch Drive at 7:32 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found the object and called out the San Joaquin County Explosive Ordnance Device team to evaluate it. The bomb squad evaluated the object, then disposed of it in place.
“Through the investigation, the item has been determined to be a type of homemade firework,” police said in a news release.
