Four people were apprehended after a shooting in west Modesto this afternoon.
Preliminary reports suggest occupants in two cars exchanged gunfire in the area of Spruce and Madison streets around 4 p.m., said Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves. At least one house was hit by gunfire, but no one was injured.
Officers responding to the area saw a Chevrolet Silverado matching the description of one of the involved vehicles and conducted a traffic stop near Fourth and G streets.
Three of the occupants stayed in the vehicle but one ran, Graves said.
Officers established a perimeter and went door to door along Fourth Street searching for the suspect. Graves said he eventually was found and taken into custody.
Officers found the suspect, a 17-year-old, hiding in the detached garage of a residence in the 500 block of Fourth Street. A gun was also recovered in the garage, Graves said.
She did not know the names or ages of the suspects this afternoon or what charges they might face.
She said the other vehicle possibly involved in the shooting had not been located.
