Police will look for drunken drivers this weekend with saturation patrols throughout Modesto starting Friday night.
The patrols are conducted by officers assigned solely to look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The patrols will hit the streets again Saturday night.
The patrols will be deployed in areas with a high frequency of DUI crashes or arrests. Modesto police said those arrested face jail time, loss of their licenses and increased insurance rates.
The patrols are funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety.
