Two identified in Hilmar fatal

The two people who died in a crash near Hilmar last Friday were identified as 63-year-old Luanne Prouty, of Hickman, and 30-year-old Arnold Anderson, of Hilmar, the Merced County Coroner’s office said Friday.

Two people who died in a crash Aug. 8 near Hilmar were identified as 63-year-old Luanne Prouty, of Hickman, and 30-year-old Arnold Anderson, of Hilmar, the Merced County Coroner’s office said Friday.

Anderson was traveling about 60 mph when he ran a stop sign on Williams Avenue at Highway 165, according to the California Highway Patrol. The right front of Anderson’s Honda Civic hit the left rear of Prouty’s Ford F-150.

Both died at the scene. Prouty’s passenger, Russell Prouty, 63, suffered major injuries.
