A judge on Friday postponed an arraignment hearing for a Modesto man accused of shooting to death his wife’s boyfriend.
Russell Kee, 43, has been charged with murder in the shooting 24-year-old Kyle Hoffman on Sunday night. Investigators believe Hoffman was in his car when he was shot near an apartment complex on Lakewood Avenue in east Modesto.
Stanislaus Superior Court Judge Nan Jacobs postponed Kee’s arraignment until Aug. 29. He did not enter a plea during Friday afternoon’s brief hearing.
The judge ordered Kee to remain in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail without bail. Once the defendant is arraigned, attorneys will have an opportunity to argue over what Kee’s bail amount should be.
