Elk Grove police arrested a suspect in a Modesto shooting, authorities said Friday.
Police had been looking for Jorge Gomez, 25, in connection with a shooting incident near Prescott Road and Chrysler Avenue the morning of July 19. The two victims told officers they were driving in the neighborhood when a male drove up next to them and started shooting, police said in a news release. He then drove away; nobody was hurt in the incident.
The victims recognized the suspect and identified him as Gomez, with whom they had an ongoing dispute.
After unsuccessful attempts at finding Gomez, detectives issued a warrant for his arrest.
At 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Elk Grove police called Modesto officers to say they had located and arrested Gomez on the warrant.
Gomez lived near the area where the shooting took place. Detectives are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or anyone who has information on Gomez.
They ask anyone with information on the case to contact Detective Evers at (209) 572-9534 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters may also text information to Crime Stoppers at 274637. Type “TIP704” along with your message.
