Law enforcement officers are searching for a convicted murderer who escaped from Department of Corrections officials in the Livingston area around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The inmate is Jeffrey Scott Landers, and he escaped from officers near Sultana Drive and Liberty Avenue.

Landers is described as a white male, 34 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with brown hair, hazel eyes. He has a medium build and an eagle tattoo on his chest, according to a sheriff's press release.

Landers was being taken from Wasco State Prison to Stockton when he escaped.

Landers is considered highly dangerous. Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with information as to Landers whereabouts to dial 911.

Sheriff's deputies advised residents not to attempt contacting or apprehending Landers, if he's located.

Landers was serving time in state prison for the Aug. 12, 2011 stabbing death of Moses Duron, 61, in Riverside.

According to a San Bernardino Sun article, Landers stabbed Duron once, fatally injuring him. Duron later died at the hospital. Landers fled the scene, but later returned and surrendered to police.
