Three people were arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of luring a man to a Modesto parking lot with the promise of sex in order to rob him.

Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves said the 21-year-old victim told police he and Crystal Melena, 24, agreed to meet in a parking lot on North Santa Cruz Avenue because they were going to “hook up.”

Shortly after the victim met Melena, a teenage boy and a young man approached him; one was carrying a black rifle.

The suspect struck the victim in the face with the rifle and took his wallet and cell phone, Graves said.

Melena and the two male suspects got into an older-model Cadillac and drove away.

Moments later, an officer patrolling the area saw the victim, whose hand was pressed against his bleeding face. The victim told him what happened, and the officer recalled having just seen the Cadillac.

He found the suspects blocks away and stopped the car.

Crystal Melena, her brother Augustin Melena, 19, and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy.
