A Sacramentan who disagreed with motel staff about a cleaning deposit was arrested on suspicion of robbery over the weekend.

Delovis Simmons-Lyon, a man living as a woman, was checking out of the Quality Inn on Kansas Avenue on Saturday morning when he was told his $20 cleaning deposit would not be returned, said Modesto police spokeswoman Heather Graves. Motel staff informed Simmons-Lyon that he left makeup stains on the towels that didn’t come out in the wash.

Graves said Simmons-Lyon became angry and started threatening to hurt the staff. He allegedly went around the counter and took $20 out of the cash register, then left the motel in a taxi.

Responding officers called the taxi company and learned Simmons-Lyon was taken to the Amtrak station in east Modesto. Officers responded to the station and arrested Simmons-Lyon on suspicion of robbery.
