A brawl outside a downtown Oakdale bar resulted in the stabbing of a 29-year-old man, police said.
Officers were called to the Battered Beaver at 1:56 a.m. Saturday, Oakdale Police Sgt. Brian Shimmel said in a news release. A fight had broken out between two groups as they left the bar at closing time.
Bar security guards had used pepper spray to end the fight and disperse the crowd. But an hour later, police were called to the home of Justin Smitley, who said he had been stabbed during the fight.
Smitley was taken to Oak Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police believe a large group of gang members initiated a fight with two men as they left the bar. The second victim, John Dominguez, 25, was not hurt.
Investigators ask anyone with information on the case to call (209) 847-2231.
