Jury continues deliberations in Turlock murder case

A jury is expected to continue deliberations today for a defendant on trial in the stabbing death of a 25-year-old man in Turlock six years ago.

A jury is expected to continue deliberations Tuesday for a defendant on trial in the stabbing death of a 25-year-old man in Turlock six years ago.

Defendant Nicholas John Harris testified that he was trying to burn Mark Anthony Henson’s car, but he did not intend to stab or kill Henson.

Harris is charged with murder and arson in connection with Henson’s death, which occurred Aug. 12, 2008 in a neighborhood a few blocks east of California State University, Stanislaus in Turlock.

The defendant believed that Henson was bothering his then-girlfriend. The prosecutor argued that Henson was stabbed in his back repeatedly that night.

The jury of nine women and three men began deliberations shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday.
