Police still seek suspect in sexual assault of Modesto teen

Modesto police continue to look for a man who sexually assaulted a teenager girl earlier this month but said they are no longer looking for the car described by the victim because of inconsistencies in her story.

Modesto police continue to look for a man who sexually assaulted a teenage girl earlier this month but said they no longer are looking for the car described by the victim because of inconsistencies in her story.

The girl told police she was jogging near McHenry and Morris avenues when she was approached by a stranger with a gun who forced her into a car. She said the man sexually assaulted her before dropping her off near Enslen Park.

Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves said there is physical evidence the girl was assaulted, but her account of when and where the assault occurred has varied. As a result, police are no longer looking for the car she described.

The suspect is described as Latino in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and 140 pounds, with hazel eyes. He has a 4- to 5-inch black tattoo on his upper left arm.

Graves said investigators believe the assault is an isolated incident and the general public is not in danger from this individual.
