A 47-year-old Modesto man on Monday was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for conspiring to grow and distribute more than a thousand marijuana plants and distribute more than a kilogram of methamphetamine.
Ramiro Suarez also was convicted of being an illegal immigrant in possession of a gun, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Sacramento.
Federal prosecutors said the drug distribution conspiracy occurred from November 17, 2008 through July 14, 2009.
The prosecutors also said Suarez sold undercover agents an AK-47 and ammunition magazine. During a search of Suarez’s home, investigators said they found meth, marijuana seeds, three more guns, processed marijuana and a digital weight scale.
