Modesto police are looking for a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a teen girl early Friday morning.

The girl, who is of high school age, was jogging west on Morris Avenue, just west of McHenry Avenue, when she was approached by a man with a handgun, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.

He pointed the gun at her and forced her into a vehicle parked nearby, then drove several minutes until he pulled over in front of a vacant home in a residential neighborhood, Graves said. The man, a stranger to the victim, sexually assaulted her before dropping her off near Enslen Park, according to authorities.

The victim walked home from there and called police. She was taken to a hospital and treated for her injuries.

The suspect is described as Latino, possibly in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, 140 pounds, with hazel eyes and a 4- to 5-inch black tattoo on his upper left arm. He was driving a black two-door Acura with chrome rims, Graves said.

“There is not really any indication either way that he had done something prior to this or that he will again,” Graves said, but she encouraged women to be vigilant. “No matter your age, no matter if you are young or old, go in partners, walk in partners, run in partners, shop in partners.”
