Caretakers who found a burglar inside a shed near a home in Arnold held the suspect at gunpoint until deputies arrived, authorities said.

According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to a home in the 1200 block of Blagen Road at 6:50 p.m. Saturday on a report of a burglary. The caretakers of the property had discovered extensive damage to a fifth-wheel trailer in the driveway.

Authorities said it appeared someone had tried to break in at several points. A window to the residence was found pried open; items inside the garage had been moved and it appeared someone had gone through items inside the house.

The caretakers found a suspect, later identified as Curtis Blaney, 26, of Arnold hiding inside a shed. They held him at gunpoint until deputies arrived.

Blaney claimed to be a passer-by, but evidence discovered inside the residence led to his arrest on burglary and vandalism charges.
