A 69-year-old San Leandro man died after the truck in which he was riding went off an overpass near Turlock on Thursday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Nick Salsedo, 50, of Delhi. Salsedo got off Highway 99 southbound at Bradbury Road and drove through the stop sign at the end of the offramp, the CHP said. The truck went across Bradbury Road and off the overpass, rolling and coming to a rest on its roof.
The crash was reported at 3:26 p.m. Salsedo was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto by helicopter.
The passenger, whose name has not been released, was taken to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, where he died.
The CHP is investigating the cause, but said alcohol appears to have been a factor.
