Police in Ripon said Tuesday they will be increasing patrols along the Stanislaus River within the city limits.

In a news release, police attributed the change to an increase in illegal camp fires, trash dumping, alcohol use and vandalism and gang activity along the river.

First Sgt. Steve Merchant said officers patrolling the riverine areas of Ripon will be taking a “Zero-Tolerance” approach to all crimes big and small. These enforcement issues include drug and alcohol use, illegal camp fires, trash dumping, gang activity and vandalism issues.
