Police in Ripon are warning residents about someone trying to collect money for painting house numbers on curbs.

According to police, residents are finding notices left on their homes advising the numbers would be painted and charging $10.

The people who are putting out the notices do not work for the city; nor do they have a valid business license, police say. Authorities advise anyone who gets contacted about the notices to call police.

The nonemergency number is (209) 599-2102.
