A Ceres resident was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman with an intellectual disability.
An investigation started July 5 when the alleged victim went to a clinic and medical personnel reported the suspected sexual assault to Ceres police, according to executive assistant Carissa Higginbotham.
Investigators said the victim had been sexually assaulted multiple times during the past year at a home in Ceres. The victim knew the suspect and gave his name to the police, Higginbotham said.
Michael Scudder, 51, was interviewed by detectives Tuesday and arrested on suspicion of rape and oral copulation of a person incapable of giving legal consent.
