A man suspected of assaulting a co-worker was hospitalized after he was stabbed by his victim, authorities said.
Richard Keener, 31, went to the home of a co-worker in the 4000 block of Ashfield Way on Thursday night because he said the co-worker owed him money, said Lt. Jolene Gonzales of the Modesto Police Department.
When he arrived, he allegedly struck the co-worker with a metal pipe, Gonzales said. The co-worker then stabbed Keener in the leg and struck him with a baseball bat, Gonzales said.
Police were called to the scene just south of Pelandale Avenue and Sisk Road. Both men were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for their wounds, Gonzales said.
When Keener is released, Gonzales said he’ll be booked into Stanislaus County Jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Gonzales would not release where the two worked.
