A Modesto man faces federal drug and weapons charges in connection with the distribution of the painkiller Oxycodone, authorities said.

A federal grand jury returned an indictment Thursday charging Banipal Bedjan, 45, with two counts of possession of Oxycodone for purposes of distribution and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon, the United States Attorney’s office said in a news release.

The indictment alleges that Bedjan possessed Oxycodone for purposes of distribution on Jan. 23 and April 29, and that he possessed three firearms. If convicted, Bedjan faces up to 30 years in prison.
