Modesto police seek suspect in robbery at Valley First in Modesto

Modesto police identified a man they say robbed the Valley First Credit Union at 1419 J St. on Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to the bank about 11:30 a.m. after the suspect, identified as Troy Lee Mitchell, 47, of Modesto, handed the clerk a note demanding money.
He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Sgt. Rick Applegate. Mitchell was identified using surveillance photos from the bank.
He was last known to drive a bronze Chevrolet Trailblazer with dealer plates, Applegate said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about this robbery to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward. Tipsters can text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637. Just type "TIP704" along with the message.
