Nearly one year after a Ripon man was badly beaten at a South Lake Tahoe bar, three men are accused of killing him.

A grand jury indicted Rodolfo Hernandez, 44, Sean Canilao, 48, and Ruben Lizzaragga (age unknown), in the death of Derek “Zippy” Penaranda. The suspects worked as bouncers at Mo’s Place, the bar where Penaranda was beaten in May 2012 while celebrating his 30th birthday.

Penaranda never recivered from injuries he sustained and died in October.

The grand jury indictments leveled against the accused have been sealed by El Dorado County Superior Court Judge James Wagoner.

Hernandez was in custody on involuntary manslaughter charges with bail set at $50,000. However, there is an immigration hold on him. Arrest warrants are out for the other two.
