Modesto police officers will be looking for people driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol this weekend.
A DUI and driver's license checkpoint is scheduled from 9:30 p.m. Friday to 3:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by roving patrols from 10 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday.
Police don't say where checkpoints are, other than within the city limits. The enforcement actions are aimed at curbing accidents and fatalities resulting from DUI.
Police reported 10 fatalities and 358 injuries in 596 DUI- related crashes over the past three years in Modesto.
Funding for the program comes from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
