Twin brothers suspected of robbing a gas station store were arrested in San Andreas, authorities said.
Jamie and Justin Ritchie, 18, were taken into custody Wednesday at the Gold Strike Mobile Home Park in the robbery of the Tower Gas Station, said Sgt. Chris Hewitt of the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.
At 10:10 p.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies were called to the station on a report that two masked men had entered the business on Highway 49 and stolen cash and merchandise. A witness said one of the men was armed with a baseball bat. A store security video recorded images of the robbers, who reportedly made off with about $400 and miscellaneous merchandise. They fled into a field behind the store.
On Wednesday, detectives went to the trailer park with search warrants. They checked the trailer where the two men live, as well as their car, and found evidence from the robbery, including the baseball bat, Hewitt said.
The Ritchies are being held at the Calaveras County Jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and possession of stolen property.
