Modesto police investigating one burglary caught the suspect after he struck at another nearby business, authorities said.

According to Modesto Police Lt. Jolene Gonzales, officers were called to Popeye’s chicken in the 400 block of Paradise Road Wednesday night.

Arriving police found a window smashed. While they waited for a restaurant employee to arrive, they heard another burglar alarm and saw a man jumping a fence and running away.

Officers called in a K-9 team to search and found Blake Harney, 21, hiding in “heavy brush”, Gonzales said.

He reportedly admitted to burglarizing Popeye’s and Little Ceaser’s, taking a cash register from each business.
