Running across a freeway to get out of a burglary charge didn’t work for an 18-year-old in Turlock.

According to police, Krysta Lafrancis and a 17-year-old juvenile walked into two separate businesses on Countryside Drive, put items into an empty purse and tried to leave. The thefts occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Security from one store confronted the two and started to lead them back to the business. Lafrancis ran away and jumped a fence onto nearby Highway 99.

She ran across the freeway and into Pedretti Park, where Turlock police apprehended her.
