A Modesto man suspected of killing his sister's longtime boyfriend earlier this month was arrested Wednesday at a homeless shelter in Turlock.

A Modesto man suspected of killing his sister's longtime boyfriend earlier this month was arrested Wednesday at a homeless shelter in Turlock.

Detectives have been looking for Francisco Hernandez Gonzales since Jan. 12, when they identified him as a suspect in the stabbing death of 55-year-old Trinidad Cordero.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Gonzales' arrest last week, and The Bee posted his picture online Tuesday.

Early Wednesday, Turlock police got an anonymous tip that Gonzales was staying at the We Care Shelter on Broadway. He was arrested about 4 a.m. at the shelter, where he had been staying for nearly a week, said Modesto police Sgt. Ivan Valencia. Gonzales had been using a fictitious name.

Cordero was stabbed multiple times at the Redwood Apartment complex on Yosemite Boulevard in southeast Modesto. He died after being taken to a hospital.

Gonzales is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail on $1 million bail.
