A 57-year-old Modesto man has pleaded guilty in federal court to growing more than 400 marijuana plants surrounded by corn rows at a home, the U.S. attorney's office reported Monday.
Eudaldo Garcia-Salas is scheduled to be sentenced March 11; he faces five to 40 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $5 million.
Federal prosecutors said the marijuana was grown under the guise of medicinal pot.
Investigators found an assault weapon at the home on Grimes Avenue. Garcia-Salas lived at another Modesto home, where authorities say more pot plants were found.
