Driver arrested after trying to run over man in Turlock

Turlock police arrested a man after he allegedly tried to run down another man with his car.

According to police reports, the victim was walking to work at 9 p.m. Monday when someone tried to run him over at D and Fifth streets. The suspect, later identified as Jose Flores, 48, got out of the car, chased the other man and threatened to kill him.

The victim contacted police. While they were talking, Flores returned in a different vehicle, police said.

When the victim identified Flores, the suspect drove away. After a short pursuit, Flores stopped and was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, evading police and criminal threats.
