Three patrons kicked out of the Tiki Lounge for causing a disturbance are now in custody on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Modesto police.
Detective Steve Stanfield said at about 12:30 this morning, the men were told by management to leave the bar at 932 McHenry Ave. On their way out, at least one of the men fired five to 10 rounds into the bar’s patio area, hitting a customer. Stanfield said multiple shell casings were found near the bar.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition, Stanfield said. It appears that the victim was not targeted and was hit randomly, he said.
Police in the area at the time of the shooting quickly located and apprehended the three suspects and seized two handguns.
Daniel Theobald, 21, Raymond Chavez, 23, and Jonathan Sanchez, 21, all of Modesto, were arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.
