Oakdale police arrested three suspects in the attempted carjacking of a truck Sunday morning in a grocery store parking lot.
One suspect is accused of punching the truck owner in the face after the owner came upon the suspect in his truck. The three suspects fled in a small red vehicle, according to a news release.
Later, a resident in the area of Pontiac Street and Willowglen Drive reported to police that three men had knocked on the front door of a home and, when no one answered, entered through the garage.
Officers found a small red vehicle in the back yard.
One suspect ran back into the house when he saw the officers.
Police called the Sheriff's Department for assistance. After several announcements over a loudspeaker, one suspect and two females left the house. Authorities found the other two suspects hiding in the house.
Oakdale police said Oakdale residents Russell Middleton, 36, and Daniel Terrence Murphy, 37, and Stockton resident Jose Aguilar, 34, were arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Oakdale police said Middleton had several outstanding warrants and was a wanted parolee.
The three were booked at the Stanislaus County Jail.
