Manteca police have arrested a man in possession of a firearm, and are trying to determine if he had anything to do with a downtown shooting last week that left one man dead and another injured.

Police will hold a press conference this afternoon to talk more about the investigation into the death of 19-year-old Derrick Gann.

Gann was shot and found lying in the street in the 600 block of East Yosemite Avenue in the early morning hours of July 27.

Another man, Jeffrey Charles Atteberry, 18, also was shot, but is recovering form his injuries, according to Manteca Police Department spokesman Rex Osborn.

During the investigation, Osborn said police have recovered guns, ammunition and drugs.
