The mother of an accused killer faces charges including kidnapping and conspiracy after she and an accessory threatened a witness to the homicide, telling him to provide false information, Modesto police say.
Rebecca Ann Adayan, 44, was arrested Friday. She is the mother of David Wilmore Jr., 21, who is charged with the shooting death of 21-year-old Cody Lea on Nov. 21 at at Ustach Park, near Hillglen Avenue in Modesto’s Village 1.
"The same day Wilmore was arrested, a witness was invited to Adayan's house," said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves. There, she and Daniel Santana, 34, threatened harm if the person did not lie about Lea's murder.

The witness wasn't allowed to leave the home freely, Graves said. "They said no, we'll drive you home. ... It sounds like the witness didn't have much of a choice."
Santana drove the witness to the person's residence, where he then threatened him with a gun, Graves said. "The witness was able to escape and call police."
Adayan's and Santana's charges include kidnapping, being an accessory after the fact, conspiracy, perjury and intimidating a witness.
The two are out on bail, but Wilmore remains in jail without bail, on charges of murder and robbery. He faces enhancements for allegedly firing a gun and acting with premeditation in connection with Lea's death, according to the criminal complaint. If convicted, enhancements could lengthen prison sentences.
Investigators initially believed Wilmore acted as an accomplice to Robert Earl Davis Jr., 21, of Riverbank in Lea's shooting but declined to say what his role was.
Davis has not yet been charged in Lea's death but has been charged with murder and attempted murder in an Oct. 28 shooting on Lake Park Court. Police say Davis fired a gun that killed Xavier Smith, 5, and injured a 6-year-old boy as they played outside a home.
