A shooting inside a Manteca apartment early Sunday critically injured a man and resulted in the arrest of another, Manteca police report.
At about 3:20 a.m., a woman called 911 to report her husband had shot a man inside the apartment, police posted on Facebook. The caller disconnected, and dispatch was unable to re-establish contact.
Officers arrived at the complex at 350 N. Union Road but also were unable to make contact with anyone inside the apartment. A man was seen looking out a window but would not respond, police said.
The Manteca Police Department’s Crisis Response and SWAT teams arrived on scene, and at Crisis Response negotiators’ direction, the man eventually came outside.
Once the man — identified by police only as being 35 years old — was detained, SWAT entered the home and found an adult male inside, unresponsive and with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition.
The 35-year-old woman who called 911 was upstairs and uninjured, police said.
The 35-year-old man was taken into custody for the shooting, police said. Detectives were conducting interviews and collecting evidence. No additional information was released.
