A man who tried to carjack a woman in front of Riverbank medical offices Monday morning ended up at a bus stop, where he was arrested.
The woman had pulled over in front of the medical officer at Patterson Road and Jackson Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. when she saw the suspect quickly walking toward her, said Riverbank Police Chief Lt. Erin Kiely.
The suspect attempted to open the front passenger door of the woman’s vehicle, Kiely said. The victim screamed, but this did not deter the suspect, he said. She began honking her horn, which caused the suspect to stop and walk away, Kiely said.
The suspect, 31-year-old Cuitlahuac Saldana of Riverbank, was found at a nearby bus stop and detained by deputies. Kiely said he was found with a knife but it was not brandished during the attempted carjacking.
