Stanislaus County Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating a double homicide after the bodies of two men were found on a property with a marijuana grow near Riverbank Thursday morning.
A man went into the Riverbank Police Services station at 9 a.m. to report a family member called him to say there was a body on the property on Claribel Road, east of Langworth Road, said Deputy Royjindar Singh. There is a ranch house on the 3-acre property and behind the home is shop and a corn field that backs up to a canal.
Deputies found the first body near a shop behind the home. Authorities originally reported only one body on the property but late Thursday afternoon said the bodies of two adult men had been discovered.
Deputies also found a marijuana grow on the property.
Singh said detectives would not release how the men were killed and said no one is in custody. He said they did not know if the men who were killed lived at the property or if the men who reported the discovery live there or are considered suspects.
He also did now know if detectives believe the marijuana grow is related to the men’s deaths.
