Police arrested three people and were looking for a fourth after a carjacking near Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto on Thursday morning.
According to Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves, the incident occurred about 6 a.m. in a parking lot along Evergreen Avenue. A truck and sport utility vehicle surrounded the victim’s vehicle, a Scion, in the lot.
Four people, two women and two men, were in the other vehicles. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his car. The victim and a passenger got out and the man with the gun got in. All three vehicles sped away, Graves said in a news release.
Officers searching the area spotted the victim’s car and the truck. They stopped the two near California Avenue and Carpenter Road. Nathaniel Souza, 38, was driving the victim’s car, Graves said. He was arrested on suspicion of carjacking and conspiracy.
Also arrested were Angela Dizney and Kymbirlee Mogelberg, both 39. They also face charges of carjacking and conspiracy. Dizney faces a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm after officers found a gun near her seat in the truck, Graves said.
Police still were looking for the SUV with the remaining male.
