Volunteer tax professionals with the campaign CalEITC4Me are scheduled to educate residents about the new California Earned Income Tax Credit and to provide free tax help from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Ceres Christian Church, according to a campaign news release.
Certified tax-preparation volunteers will be aboard a mobile tax preparation center to prepare and electronically file federal and state taxes, the release says, and to provide screenings to determine eligibility for federal and state Earned Income Tax Credit.
Families who made $54,000 or less last year can schedule a free tax preparation appointment by calling 916-206-9588. Walk-ins will also be accepted, according to the campaign.
Nearly 50,000 residents of Stanislaus County, according to the release, are eligible for the state and/or federal EITC. Those seeking tax-preparation assistance should bring W-2s, a form of government identification, a Social Security card for each family member, and bank account information.
The event is being hosted by CalEITC4Me, United Way of Stanislaus County and the AARP Foundation. Spanish speakers also will be available.
Ceres Christian Church is at 3502 Roeding Road. For more information, go to CalEITC4Me.org.
