An Oakdale man who crashed head on with a big rig last week has been identified as 56-year-old Jaylen Franks.
The impact of the crash sent the big rig into a home in the 6700 block of Albers Road south of Oakdale, rupturing its fuel tank and releasing fuel into the home and its basements, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Franks was driving a Chevrolet pickup north on Albers on Wednesday night when, for unknown reasons, he turned left and into the lane of the southbound big rig.
The big rig driver, 31-year-old Julio Cesar Ayala, of Patterson, tried alerting Franks by flashing his high beams. He also began braking and pulling to the right but the Chevrolet crashed into the big rig at speeds of about 55 mph.

Franks died at the scene.
Ayala was taken to Memorial Medical Center with moderate injuries, including lacerations and abrasions.
The CHP continues to investigate the crash; it’s not known if drugs or alcohol played a role.
