A group consisting of faith-based organizations, conservationists, environmentalists, high school students and government workers joined to clean up a stretch of the Tuolumne River through Modesto on Sept. 13. More than 60 volunteers removed 10 shopping carts, 10 tires and three tons of garbage. Among the participants were volunteers from the Modesto Gospel Mission, the Back Country Horsemen, students from Davis High, Modesto High and Modesto Junior College. They were joined by wildlife, police, local politicians and city workers, along with Collins Electric, which provided tools and machinery.
DiBuduo & DeFendis Insurance, which has an office in Modesto, has been designated as one of the top independent insurance agencies in the United States in the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America “Best Practices” Study Group for 2014. It is the second year in a row that the agency has received this designation. More than 1,100 agencies in the U.S. were nominated to participate in the study, but only 217 were chosen.
