ON TAP TONIGHT
A future freeway linking Turlock to Patterson is expected to move a step closer to reality Wednesday as transportation leaders consider paying a consultant $350,000 to develop a feasibility study. The South County Corridor would replace West Main Street from Highway 99 to Interstate 5. Nine firms bid to do the key study, and a Stanislaus Council of Governments panel selected T.Y. Lin International, a global transportation planning and engineering company established in 1954 and headquartered in San Francisco. Turlock, Patterson, Newman and Stanislaus County – agencies with the most to gain – put $150,000 toward the cost, with the rest coming from StanCOG. Tonight’s StanCOG meeting will start at 6 p.m. in the third-floor chamber at 1111 I St., Modesto.
