The late-summer heat that has been holding the Northern San Joaquin Valley firmly in its grip over the past several days began to ease somewhat Monday. And forecasters say there is a slight chance the area will get some rain before the end of the week. Monday’s high was 93, according to the Modesto Irrigation District. Temperatures will continue to drop, with a high of 90 predicted Tuesday and Wednesday, and only 83 on Thursday, with lows around 60, the National Weather Services predicts. Thursday is when the area might get some rainfall, forecasters say. A system moving into the area will bring a 20 percent chance of rain in Modesto.
