Modesto’s E.&J. Gallo Winery has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist those impacted by the earthquake that struck Napa Valley last month.
“On behalf of our employees and their families, we are making this donation to help the rebuilding effort and to provide aid and comfort to the victims of this disaster,” said Joseph Gallo, chief executive officer and president of E.&J. Gallo Winery.
The donation will assist the Red Cross recovery response efforts and meet ongoing demands throughout the Napa Valley.

The Sonora Area Foundation announced grants to three local nonprofits:
received $30,540 to serve at-risk youth in Tuolumne County. The agency has been working with 12- to 19-year-olds since 2002.

in Sonora. We Care provides transitional and permanent housing for people in recovery, with mental illness or who are homeless for various other reasons.
received $5,168 to pay utilities and services for program participants in permanent supportive housing.
New roof, repairs for Oakdale Museum
Through the support of Oakdale Rotary and Oakdale resident Jay Gilbert, the Oakdale Museum and History Center is getting two chimneys repaired and a new roof. McPhee Masonry will perform the chimney work, while Kevin Donnelly will do the re-roofing.
According to its website, www.oakdalemuseum.com, the museum at 212 W. F St. is open only Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursdays, 1 to 5 p.m. It plans to reopen Thursday as scheduled.
