A vehicle crash in northwest Modesto claimed the life of a woman Sunday night.
Authorities identified the woman as Plouey Tao, 56, of Modesto.
The crash occurred near Beckwith Road and Beckwith Court about 9:30 p.m. just after a big rig had pulled out of the court and was heading east on Beckwith Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Chuck Leon.
The big rig was traveling about 5 or 10 mph when Tao’s Mazda minivan rear ended it and went under the trailer.
Tao died at the scene. The driver of the big rig, Gursevak Mann, 33, of Manteca, was not injured.
Leon said it does not appear drugs, alcohol or cell phone use contributed to the crash. There was no evidence that Tao attempted to stop before hitting the back of the big rig.
Investigators are trying to determine how fast she was driving, Leon said. They are also awaiting autopsy result to determine if a medical condition played a role.
The road was closed for 45 minutes while officers investigated.
